Lonely Observer
He waits alone
Watching calculating predicting
Trying to learn new ways
To block out the hum he hears.
A whisper from his mother
She just wants him to be home
So he can understand
But he is just a lonely observer.
He waits alone
Watching calculating predicting
Trying to learn new ways
To block out the hum he hears.
A whisper from his mother
She just wants him to be home
So he can understand
But he is just a lonely observer.
A bench alone in the park
People all around
Playing, laying, running
The sun it out and warming
The air is clear and cool
Still no one wants to sit
Today is gloomy
The checkered battlefield
Ridden with remnants of battles lost
And prisoners captured
But one soldier remains
A knight
He tries to move
But he’s bound by morals
Again and again, illegal move
He roars at his constraints
But there is no breaking his bonds
So he remains solitary forever
Unwanting to follow his guide
Are its lines crisp?
Clear in all places
Was it completed in one try?
No stray marks or erases
Is it filled to the brim?
A deep color in the lines
Is it perfect?
Without a chance of error
Or
Are its edges slightly blurred?
Was it made through several attempts?
Is it a inversion of the dark surrounding it?
Is it a work always in progress?
The perfect green field of soft grasses
Living and swaying back and forth
When a brown head ruptures its beauty
Pushing up part of its perfection
Replacing the green grasses with brown dirt
A mole on the face of the field
Countless other gophers poke their heads up
Unknowing of the destruction they are causing
Only going about their daily business
Soon the beauty has been undermined
A foundation full of holes
On the verge of collapse
Neither meaning harm nor doing good
The gophers continue on
And the field of soft green grasses
Is reduced to ruins of past perfection
Stupidity is being stubborn about your ignorance of your ignorance.
I’ve been told that we’re the same height
By doctors and friends alike
We even stood back to back and
I guess
It came out the same
But when I talk
While we walk side by side
I still look up at you
I want out
So I can
Sway with the trees
Let the breeze chill my skin
Bask in the sun’s glow
And breathe the clean aroma of green
But I’m stuck inside
A brick wall and a glass window
Keeping me away
From the day
Today
In death we can only be one of two things:
Remembered by the world
Or
Loved by our family
We each make the choice daily
